ECOllagen are type I collagen peptides, a versatile source of protein and important element of healthy nutrition. ECOllagen are characterized by a combination of 17 key amino acids (high in Hydroxyprolie, Proline and Glycine). Due to its low molecular weight (1-2 KDa) ECOllagen is easily digestible, absorbed and distributed in the human body.

ECOllagen was tested in a randomized, placebo-controlled study, published in Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, evaluating the efficacy of freshwater marine collagen on skin wrinkles and elasticity.

After 12 weeks, participants supplemented with ECOllagen had a significant 35% reduction in wrinkle score from baseline.

Participants in the ECOllagen group showed a 24% greater reduction in wrinkles on the right side of the face than those on placebo.

A planned subgroup analysis based on age showed women 45-54 years had a significant 20% and 10% improvement in cheek skin elasticity from baseline to week 6 and 12, respectively.

At week 12, participants in the ECOllagen group reported greater percentage improvements in overall skin score (9%) and wrinkle (15%), elasticity (23%), hydration (14%), radiance (22%), and firmness (25%) scores vs placebo.

Conclusion

Supplementation with ECOllagen was found to be safe and well-tolerated. The results of this study support the use of fish-derived hydrolyzed collagen for the improvement of skin health in an aging population.

Amino acid profile

ECOllagen is derived from one species of freshwater, tropical fish called Pangasius Hypophthalmus. That gives ECOllagen a unique and highly beneficial amino acid profile with high content of amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, which represent ~50% of total amount amino acids.
